WhyMobile's mission is to create an honest and exciting way to shop for electronic gadgets in the comfort of your own home.

Our Business

Established since 2004, WhyMobile Telecommunications (Singapore) LLP (Reg No.: LL0600590C) (f.k.a. WhyMobile Telecommunications (Singapore) - 53014731M) is an IDA licensed retailer of new and used mobile phones in Singapore.

It started in late 2003 when four mobile phone enthusiasts got together after being scammed at neighborhood retail stores. They were usually being quoted unbelievably low prices only to find that the phones sold to them had items removed, or were to be further subjected to sales taxes (GST).

After having found out from IRAS that all GST registered traders are to display their GST registration number in tax invoices and quote GST-inclusive prices upfront, they were frustrated and decided to create an honest business of their own.

Justin Lee (a current partner of WhyMobile) bought over the domain "whymobile.com" from a friend and named the company likewise.

By Q1 2004, WhyMobile's first website was launched. Subsequently in Q2 2004, we opened our first physical retail outlet in a small push cart outside Plaza Singapura to serve as a convenient collection point for our customers. After several months of bustling business, a facelift was given to the website in Q3 2004.

By Q2 2005, we were asked to leave the kiosk at Plaza Singapura as they were to be demolished and rebuilt into an event space. We then moved to our current location in Far East Plaza and are here to stay.

Major brands we carry include Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Panasonic, Motorola, O2, Dopod, Apple and Siemens.

Our easy-to-navigate virtual store, no gimmicks policy, extremely competitive prices, wide range of products, door-to-door delivery and excellent customer service is our winning strategy that has captured the hearts of our customers all over the world.

Our Commitment

WhyMobile is committed to deliver quality goods to our customers in the shortest time possible. This commitment is carried across all our products new or refurbished.

All goods are checked by our suppliers and staff before delivery to ensure that goods are not defective prior to delivery.

In an event that goods at time of delivery should be found defective, customers may:

  1. Return the goods for an exchange of a similar product or;
  2. Cancel the order

In order for goods to qualify as defective, the following criteria must be fulfilled:

  1. Electronic products that fail to start or;
  2. Electronic products that do not respond or;
  3. Electronic products that fail to perform its normal functions or;
  4. Electronic products that carry manufacturing defects or;
  5. Products that have visible damages (e.g. cracks) to its exterior

Used phones are also put through consistent, stringent and controlled checks to ensure that phones are in good condition before we refurbish them for resale on our site or at our outlets.

However, we do not maintain much inventory in our store. Customers are advised to call or e-mail for stock availability before coming to avoid disappointment.

Pricing Policy

WhyMobile believes in creating value through competitive pricing. Stores generally mark up their prices by a substantial amount to buffer for charges incurred by electronic payments. In order to keep our costs low, we do not buffer these charges and transfer them only to those who opt to use electronic payment methods.
